Sagging skin
As the person age, there is loss of collagen protein in the skin, a protein that is packed together to form long and thin fibrils that support each other and ensure the skin is strong and elastic. This loss of collagen can cause the skin to lose elasticity, reduction of the thickness of the epidermis, increase in the formation of wrinkles and sagging, and also make the skin vulnerable and easily damaged.
Although ageing is the main factor of skin sagging, other causes include exposure to ultraviolet light, tobacco, excessive intake of sugar.
Avoiding causative factors and applying sunscreen properly can delay ageing.
