Freckles

Freckles, also known as Ephelids in medical terms, are light brown to dark brown to black spots over skin. Although the most common site is face, they may occur on any sun exposed area. These spots occur due to an increased amount of melanin in the skin, the pigment responsible for skin complexion.

Although, they are known as beauty spots but become a cosmetic concern and need removal to enhance the overall appearance of the person.

Dr Divya Agrawal recommends treatment depending upon the number and severity of pigmentation of freckles. There are multiple topical and systemic therapies along with ablative therapies.
